• Terrall E. Tillman and I became acquainted while I was presenting information on Reentry Employment best practices, during a Los Angeles Regional Reentry Partnership Workshop earlier this month (September 2019).     
• Mr. Tillman presented himself as a passionate, concerned, and insightful representative of the reentry community. He asked very clear, direct, and relevant question concerning how to make sure that employment, and other services actually get to their target audience. I felt that Mr. Tillman was spot on with his line of questioning. He genuinely represented himself a voice for those who were not in the room to speak for themselves.      
• I have since followed up with Mr. Tillman and have asked him to lend his ideas, considerations, and most of all his community influence, in assisting The Los Angeles Regional Reentry Partnership in advancing the voices of other formerly incarcerated men and women in his local area of South Los Angeles.     
•  I look forward to seeing what positive effects transpire as a result of my introduction to this intelligent, motivated, and inspiring young man.

• Terrall Tillman has been a brother to me since birth. Throughout his storied life with the ups and down, his dedication towards my success has never wavered.

• He worked tirelessly on redirecting his focus, toward redeeming himself and finding his true purpose.     
•  So, what once seemed like a dead end, led to valuable lessons learned. Those lessons opened up another avenue he could travel down. A road that, provides opportunity, empowerment and freedom.

• Hi!  I’m Lynne.  I am retired from 25 years at the Walt Disney Company and have spent the last eleven years as an advocate in the communities of South Los Angeles.  While on the Advisory Board of Pete Carroll’s non-profit, A Better LA, I met Terrall when he was an instructor at the Professional Community Intervention Training Institute (P.C.I.T.I.) and I was a student.  His smile was infectious and his spirit was strong. Throughout our friendship I have seen him in the best of times and the worst of times. He has always remained positive, accountable, committed and has taken every opportunity to grow both as a person and professionally!  I trust him to give his best and along with his intelligence and personal magnetism he will succeed.

•  I am so blessed to have Terrall as my cousin/ brother/ friend and with all those titles I’m so proud of the man he has have grown into from his life experience. I appreciate the fact that he has taken his negative experiences and turned them into a positive. When we first met he was in prison, when we took our first family picture he was in prison but he did his time and got out. He was determined not to go back so I had a chance to watch him turn his life around and be a great man, father, brother, and positive influence to his community, but as we all know the devil didn’t like to see him doing good so he threw another obstacle in his path and unfortunately it cost him more years from his life and took him away from us but this time he took advantage of the situation and molded himself into an even stronger man. He did his time and got out with a plan and put it into play. He’s now helping others to take a different path in life and believing in them and able to relate to them is a strong attribute that he has. He has always been a leader at heart, strong willed and determined.

• Terrall and I have known each other over 10 years. And during that time; I learned a lot about his interests and his goals in life. • Terrall Tillman Sr. was 35 years of age when we first met as a part of the Community Intervention organization, Advocates 4 Peace & Urban Unity (APUU). It is a group of men & women dedicated to helping to eradicate gang involvement and teach healthy, alternative lifestyles to youth and adults. I, Robert Rubin was approached by a founding member of the group to help develop the infrastructure in early 2007. It was refreshing to go from the war room to the board room to help establish protocols and procedure to govern how the organization would function. Terrall was right there, while the group met once a week for the first year, twice a week for the second year and then once a month the third year. We were off and running in the Hoover Corridors community, showing how former gang members could be successful Board members and contribute and help refocus on families and communities to make it better. By 2010, the group, which included Mr. Tillman had committed to setting up Safe Passages in and around local schools, mentoring and training, in local elementary, middle and high schools. Trouble shooting at schools on behavioral problems that involved gangs and families. We helped to created Safe School zones and signage for 5 local schools, caused schools intersections to be restriped and created crossing guards and curve side drop off and pick-up services before and after school. Terrall completed P.C.I.T.I. Community/Gang Intervention training and sit on the Board of First 5 Los Angeles for the Broadway and Manchester area. We established the largest “Community Festival” in decades for 6 years running at Algin Sutton Park, unmatched to this day. He has now embarked to establish his own re-entry curriculum being copyrighted and unveiled in the coming months. On a personal note, Terrall is practicing what he’s teaching. You can’t judge the outcome of a person’s life by how he starts, but rather how he finishes. Fresh starts as only he can tell you for himself. In the middle passage of life from 35 to being 47; let the life you now live speak for itself. Terrall plans to make his life relevant through moral and character development. With integrity, values and laws that govern how we should act in society. Which is not always right! Being ethical and committed to changing the world every day, beginning with self. It took me a couple of weeks to formulate these words in hopes of being insightful. We suffered losses of friendships and lives of the “Fallen Ones”, coupled with other distractions in life which veered us to the left, rather than towards the right. Let these words be encouraging and resonate to the reader and may God bless you little brother!

• I have had the pleasure of knowing and working aside Mr. Tillman for over 15 years. We both where founding members of a grass-root non-profit A.P.U.U. (Advocates for Peace and Urban Unity). This organization was to assist with eradicating gang violence that plague the Westmont area and Vermont corridor of South Central Los Angeles Ca.. We provided safe passage and safe schools zones that was in the surrounding areas of the Vermont corridor. Mr. Tillman has been a role model to at risk kids that he mentored under the program (Boys to Men). It is an honor to sit at the table with him and brain storm ideas for safety collaboration in the community.
